the Nimbochromis livingstonii is really friendly if anyone causes problems it the convict i believe thats what someone called it. he always chases everyone to one side of the tank and keeps the nice part with all the hide aways to himself. i think i might sell him and get some other fish like him i like the saltwater look but freshwater set up. he attacks everythings but the Nimbochromis livingstonii he nice to him lets him come chill. the Nimbochromis livingstonii breaks up the fights. its ususally the convict vs the jack demsey, they lock lips and chase each other back across the tank ill post a picture below. i want more fish at-least 5 more.

Livingstoni will get big and fairly quick as far as Cichlids go. Will grow to about 10". Very nice looking fish that kinda resembles a bass. Nice setup you got there!

i want more fish like the one on the right... convict i guess. i had a yellow one bigger than him that was maddddddddd nice but he died when transported.

The one on the right is not a convict, but mbuna. You have two jack dempseys that look kinda like a convict crossbred with a JD. Although it could be a pure bred. Those are the mean ones you keep referring to. Here is a pic of a convict cichlid..

see the tank set up in the 4th picture? thats how the tank always is with the "mbuna"... got it, thanks for letting me know always on the right side and everyone else on the left. i like his colors and want to get more fish like him but he seems to be the one messing up up the flow of the tank i really don't want to sell him but damn... he's like a mean pit, he bites everything like in the 1st and last pic (the one on the right "mbuna").

When you have fish from Africa with New World cichlids, they don't really understand threats from one another. Their body language is different. If the Mbuna is a troublemaker, ditch it. It's a nice size, so someone should take it. Or set up a separate tank for Africans. They are very relaxing to watch as they don't mind overcrowding like New Worlds. They are extremely colorful and active in most cases. But I prefer the New Worlds for their personalities, and their size. Jack Dempseys aren't really rare, so parting with them shouldn't be regretted if you ever want to have more. The mix of Africans isn't the best, but could possibly work out. Good luck with whatever you do.

The JD's are not hybrids just regular Jack Dempseys.

It seems by your expression of liking the mbuna and the way you have you tank set up with rock that you should look into having an all mbuna tank. Go fish around in the African section and you can learn all kinds of stuff like what will go best with what and ideas of what you could stock that you don't even know exists. Personally I like New Worlds as stated earlier. They get bigger (typically) and have more personality. Researching and learning is half the fun. Have fun and good luck.
