They only get 11 inches. If he uses damsels he's going to need a lot to cycle a 240.

Will the groupers be able to stay when the lions are introduced??

What should I use for filtration? I was thinking fluval FX5? Too much??

You have a point but groupers get fairly territorial with conspecifics plus if it was my tank i wouldnt want 4 of the same 10" fish in there.
Ide just go with a few damsels or something else cheap and chuck a small grouper in if you want and just feed excess amounts. It does the same thing. You can cycle a tank with no fish just by chucking a piece of shrimp in there or chucking in a handfull of flakes.

I would like to cycle with trigger fish.

Would this be possible, and if so, what type do you think I should get?

How many would I need and how big do they get?

Would they eat feeder fish?

Thank you for all the help.

i wouldn't. the groupers are a hardy group of fish and the triggers are more senitive. you're taking a risk cycling either of these as they are failrly expensive. i personally would do the damsels and some LR. it'd cycle better and the groupers/eels/lion would eventually eat the damsels so you don't have to worry about removing them. and if they die, eh, $5 down the hole instead of $100

dont eel and trigger not mix? i think i heard this somewhere.
