Thanks for the info. Yes I have 2 caves and 6 fake plants. They tsn and lima often shoal together during the day when lights are out and hide when lights are on. Today I saw only the lima shovelnose eat. I saw him eat pellets. I think it is taking the tsn a while to settle in. I am going to try putting his food in garlic.

Well that's a good start! (Sorry I missed the part that you said they were about 3.5" earlier.) TSN's seem more prone to waiting on eating than other large cats from what I've been seeing around here. No actual stats or anything on that :grinno: but just seems to be the case to me.

I forgot to add, that the guy had the tsn on guppies.... I'm wondering if I should just go buy a batch of guppies just for this one time.... I am going to see if he'll eat shrimp today.

Just because it says they can reach 24'', doesn't mean they will.

You run a high risk of introducing stuff like ich to your tank. If he flat out refuses anything in a couple days, I'd put him in a quarantine tank/tub and then try some guppies to keep him from just starving. However, I'd do everything possible to stay away from live.

But you have to assume that they will or close to it. Either way a 55 is 12 inches in width.:nilly:

Ok everyone congrats on telling him that the fish get large, we would all be lost without ur insight. Lol I'm sure this guy knows that these fish can reach a large sizes he didn't ask how large they get he asked how to get them to take food. A 55 isn't a bad size for baby cats as long as it's filtered well. I hope he is planning a much larger tank/pond in the near future but if he's not stating every fact on his fish wont change his mind. With that said, congrats on both ur new cats. Hope everything works out with them

I am going to hold off on the guppies and try some smelt... thanks mqktandy!
