frozen blood worms..mine were 2.5" when i got them 9 days ago they are now real close to 4"...i got 2 tsn friday and they are also eating blood worms..they were 2.5" also

thats what i figured. he is in the 280 with a 5-6in tsn and a small texas and an even smaller jag. ive been feeding the tank tilapia and bloddworms and hikari so i figure if he gets any of the three he will be in good shape.

Glad to see someone with a pond already built!

you have no idea how hard it is not to fill it right now. I cant wait to get into this new house!

do you think the jag and tex will stay out of the cat's mouths for a few more months? or will i have to temporarily rehome them?

alright. whenever it gets to the point im checking on the tank 10x per day to count fish ill move them. im at 9x now..

and thanks! @fishhooked

also, he and the tsn are pretty inactive when the lights are on. is there a way to ween them into enjoying the light? or does it just come with age

Catfish are naturally nocturnal...i have found when they are smaller they are less active when the lights are on but get more active with age and size.

cool thats what I was hoping for. any other tips? these are my first "monster" catfish.

the indoor pond is built and will be filled this summer. its 1250g (12x4x4) with 4 1500g pumps (havent ordered the pumps yet so if bigger ones are needed i can) running into 2 separate 50g trashcans, on either side of the pond, filled with scrubbies, carbon bags, and purigen bags. the return will be two spraybars ( on the backside. here is a rough drawing of what it looks like. the pluming is much neater in person. and the trashcans will be hidden with plants, decor, etc... the liner is black (looking for a tan one) and i havent decided between tile or sand (if i can find a tan liner, bare bottom. I want to be able to see the fish is the point). driftwood and giant clay pots for decor most likely.

as i was feeding him this morning i noticed his dorsal and pelvic fins had split. nothing in there would have nipped at him. I cant figure out why
