yeah, there is no way its a side necked turtle. looks like some type of mud. probubly an african (like he said)
Pelomedusa and pelusios are order Pleurodira and family Pelomedusidae, so they are sidenecks, they are the african sidenecks. What they arent is snakenecks.

Just wanted to add to this if any one reads it in the future and wants to know what this turtle is. I meant to do it before but got side tracked. African you guys insite and my own research. I learned this species is " pelusios subniger " Aka east african side neck, aka east african black mud turtle.

thanks to every one who answered before. and helped me on the right track of figureing out what kind of turtle this cool little guy was

www.pelomedusa.com will answer every q, you got. i researched the african sideneck species for over 1 year(in extreme detail, i wrote a 7 page report) trying to get my folks to let me get one(turtles that are wierdish are my fav animal, and it was perfect) just to find out that because of my grandpas cancer i couldnt get any animal that could harbor certain parasites/dieseses and the turtle was on the list. pm me if you ahve anymore q's

ps, i have seen them in the wild, they are sooo cool when they come up from their little mud puddles, when the rains come.
