Looks great although I think the turtles wouldn't mind the extra swimming room that is being wasted by the cool background. Maybe something could be added that could utilized the open area?

Love the cascading water efffect. My AST is in 35 gallons now, getting ready for most of what a 55 gal can deliver in environment vs safety (don't run away). Big f/u.

How big is your AST now, I have a 3 inch one in my 90 Gal tank, but I fear it might be too big because it gives the fish more avenues of escape LOl.

They have all they can get the background does not go below but maybe a 1/2" below water level. Utelizing all the water area except for the bricks. The open area you mean above the water?

i would like to know how the background was done also. looks great!

I used stryrefoam and carved and glued it together to get the shapes i desired and then just covered it with quickcrete. Couple layers. Then i painted with a waterbase airbrush paint (createx) then coated it with a 2 part epoxy clear to help protect it. ( Can buy the clear at lowes/menards made for counter tops high build stuff and tough)
Jump and you tube and type in DIY backgrounds or something along that line will help ya out.
