Just got back from the lake and I decided to keep a baby musk turtle that I had caught. He still has the yolk so he can be trained easily to eat turtle pellets. He is starting out in a 10 gallon tank and eventually will move in with the other turtles in the 100 gallon when he is big enough. His name is Skipper and hopefully he'll be a good and healthy turtle.

This is when Stinkpots are at their most delicate stage. Once you get it eating you're usually in the clear. Keep it warm and in shallow water that's only about an inch deep. That water is way too deep for it right now.

Also you have to wait several days to one week for the yolk to be absorved before trying to feed him anything. Put him in a simpler much more shallower setup. You dont need a heater as of now, the most important thing is getting him calm and that yolk sack absorved.

firebellied man is my brother. we have him in the ten gallon with alot of floating plant bulb, live weeds and a dock. he is never struggling to swim so i think the depth of the water will be fine. yeah, he still has the yolk so e wont be eating till it goes away. hes so cute.
