New type of Oscar? Help ID please

Hey everyone, was cruising walmart to see their fish selection (I know not the best place to buy fish) and saw these guys swimming with baby tiger oscars, they were being sold as oscars but don't really look like any I have ever seen. They have a blue green iridescence to them also.

Those are basically the bottom-of-the-barrel Red Oscars - but they are neat looking. Wonder how they will look later.

When I saw them they sure acted like oscars but at the time I wasn't sure because I had never seen oscars like this. Sadly though I didn't get them due to the fact I had no idea what they were on top of being $10 for only 2". I wonder if they would have kept their color as they got bigger though, might look kinda cool.

im not certain but it looks like the fish was painted or "blueberry Oscar" if it is painted it will likely not live long but some surivive and the paint eventually wears off and they look normal again

+1 Gotta agree they look like "BlueBerry Oscars" and as supergourami said if they are BlueBerries they're usually Albino O's dyed blue. The dying process involves the complete stripping of the slime coat to get the color to take and while they do grow a new one it never comes back as well as their initial slime coat. As such the fish are invariably stunted and very susceptible disease, so keeping them long term can be problematic to say the least. Also as supergourami said the color fades as they grow and they revert back to Albino O coloration, making any appeal they might have diminished beyond redemption in my opinion.

fun fact: Not going to find newly discovered oscar species in a walmart tank!

It might have internal parasites based on the way the abdomen looks

When I saw them they looked pretty healthy even though they were from walmart and were swimming around just fine with all the others. Just found this article http://www.theoscarspot.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20992 the biggest difference I see in the ones I found is that they were really dark and not a pale or opaque blue like the other's I've seen. Maybe a dyed or dipped tiger?
