New Uarus

I got a pair of uarus a few weeks ago and haven't really seen them eat much. The larger one seemed to go after some shrimp pellets and they both seemed a little interested in flakes. Anything else to try?

One is significantly bigger than the other. I assume that is the male? A few days after getting them one laid eggs that didn't make it (I didn't expect them to).

Try some veggies - romaine lettuce, etc.

Size is not a very good indication...males and females look pretty much the same.

I feed mines tubiflex worms before when I was breeding them.

I wouldnt feed larger Uaru's flake food. They'll probably eat it, but there's so many better options. Go with a really good pellet (Hikari Cichlid Excel, NLS, & Omega One Super Kelp Pellets) or as mentioned, some veggies.

Definitely try the romaine lettuce. Mine go nuts for that. They like the occassional frozen bloodworm cube too

I agree with lettuce, same with mine they go nuts and devour them like crazy

They haven't touched the lettuce. Do I need to sink it?

Once upon a time when I kept Uaru I would feed them Hikari Algae Wafers and they seemed to really love them....my adults and juvies would pile up on the bottom and munch away

Time to try algae wafers.. Sunk lettuce or cabbage didn't work.
