New vampire tetra/payara

Putting this with a hydrocynus tomorrow.

I really want one of those, but ive heard they dont live long/well in the home aquarium. Is there any truth to that. Also what is there growth rate/ aprox max size they can acheive in an aquarium?

well I used to think there was truth to that until I saw woodysun's payara, which is like 16 inches and looks awesome.

If you give it enough space, enough current and take care of it, they'll probably be fine.

I'd like to know about their growth rate though, I wonder if they are slow growing like ATF.

Yes, they are typically fairly slow growers.
