Are you using an overhead flash? I am not into photography at all, but most of the guys on here says that works instant wonders. Nice pics and fish BTW.

Nice man. Did you get these from snookn?

I doubt it's a WC silver. Too fancy looking to be one. More like captive bred. but nice piece of silver.;)

What exactly makes you think its not WC? John said they were WC from peru or something but I guess the supplier could always be BSing.

Firstly, that a beautiful looking Arowana!!!

Question: Is there a way to distinguish WC from captive bred Aros?

From a few documentaries I saw on fish from Amazonia, the wild Aros seems a lot darker and more grayish-brown than silver (and these were probably not Black aros).

While OP pics are reasonably beautiful, I wonder if a regular shot with adequate tank-lighting will actual give more information than these (relatively) artistic ones?

Cheers,
Sid

The reason hey are brown because they get more direct sunlight than ones kept in Aquaria. If check out Tklmnd's threads, the silver aros in his outdoor pond are brown.

Well, I don't breed silvers nor black. But I got farms here and malaysia breeding them captively. I have discuss about WC and CB with some suppliers and they tell me the same thing, WC one can't be that fancifully colourful with such redness. They are usually much less attractive and colourless silver. Nowadays silvers are widely bred and to be exported out thus WC is no longer the easier way to get nice silvers.:)

Like I said earier, I don't breed silvers but asia aros only. I can't tell you for sure what people tell me are true. But I do get to see those brooders and damn they are huge.

For more comparisim, you can always look into my silvers collection here which I posted and see the similarity for mine are all CB silvers. Current length can easily hit 28 inches.
