A couple pics of the 15 new silver arowanas I bought last night from a friend to grow out for my 3600 gallon tank. I'll probably sell around half of them at 18" or so. One is smaller (4" or so) than the others which are all about 6" or so. They are in my 210 (7'x2'x2') right now until the big tank is built.

feeding time musst slop water everywhere

so nice how much u pay for them and where?

I bought them locally from a friend who brought them in from Columbia a couple months ago with another guy. They initially purchased about 90 and split them up. My friend was going to put them in his pond, but his wife changed his plans. He bought a couple larger black arowanas, so decided to part with these to make room. I paid $280 for 15 of them, so under $20 each.

I don't know how much sloshing around feeding time will create yet as I just brought them home last night. He had them eating Hikari pellets and market shrimp.

wow sweet lol

Sweet~ They will grow real fast with many small feeding within the day. Mine grow fast but I only got 10 pieces though. Diet is mainly pellets of all sort and also leftover meat from my other tanks feeding.

Bought some 150/200 count market shrimp for them tonight. $4.49 per lb. already peeled. The package I bought was .66 lb. for $2.96. Cut shrimp into 1/4" pieces and fed 5 shrimp total and almost all of them have full bellies. I'm going to order some arowana vitamins from AquaticEco.com and soak the shrimp in it. I'll keep feeding them pellets too. I put some pellets in before work today and there was no sign of them when I got home. So, pellets in the morning and cut market shrimp at night should work pretty well. I can't wait for them to get 18" so I can go buy crawfish by the pound and feed them those. That's one good thing about living in New Orleans. Crawfish are cheap.
