New WC Silvers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The silvers are doing great. I have one with a split lower fin, but it's healing up. My friend told me they tend to fight when hungry.

They love market shrimp, but not the pellets I have. I have some earthworm sticks on order, so hoping to get them on those in addition to the market shrimp. I doubt they'll eat them, but I may try to trick them into eating the veggie sticks I have for my other fish. I'm going to start culturing red wigglers for them once the weather warms up a bit.

They are starting to recognize me and are becoming less skittish.

Some pics from today related to their tank:

1/3 of 32 gallon garbage can full of bio-balls out of the filter to be washed
I had to move the door partially to fit the 55 gallon wet/dry in. Fortunately, the stand was made with pocket screws and I was able to unscrew one of the door mounts and move it over. Well, beat it with a hammer over.

All I have left to do is paint the pvc overflow and external plumbing with krylon fusion and cement the last connection.

Killer pack of aro's! Them little buggers oughta be taking off pretty quick. Why dont you just get them same hikari floating sticks your buddy was using. Gut loaded crickets are a favourite among aro's as well. SOme big clown loaches would be a really cool color contrast amongst them. Make sure they are big cause w/ that many aro's they will be eating them if they are hungry.

Wow, nice!

I'm waiting for the weather to warm up, since that's when all the stores around here get their arowanas.

He claimed that they were eating the pellets, but I never saw one touch them. I do have some sticks on order. I may pick up some hikari pellet later today and see.

I used to gut load earthworms for my ciclids by putting them in flake food with vita-chem. How do you gut load crickets? What foods to feed them?

I had 7 clown loaches, and some other botias that I wanted to put with them, but when I moved tanks from the fish room to the garage the tank they were in got a bad case of ich. I've just about got it under control, but lost 2 of the clown loaches.

They could take much bigger than pinhead crickets already. I'll have to get some of the 1/2" ones for them.

I'm finally finished rough plumbing the pump returns and the pvc overflows from the tank to the sump. I need to pick up some band clamps when I go to Lowe's later. After that, I'll be able to move the xP3 to the 110 and have the 55 wet/dry running the 210.

After a couple weeks of running, I'm going to remove the current substrate and replace it with black sand.

Cool thing about having the 55 wet/dry sump is that the only things in the tank are the pvc overflows and the returns. They're painted black like the side of the tank that is closest to the wall, so barely visible.

That would be awesome to have that many. Thank's for the tip on fighting because my 3 silvers fight a lot. They just ate and seem peaceful.
