New White/Yellow Midas (M)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
either way he is a nice fish im sure he will come out more and more given time. But yeah i love the yellow coloration on him!

Bump - Anyone deal with picky Midas as far as diet? This guy is not a big eater, but it picks here and there. The Trimac damn near blast through the divider for food. He did gobble some frozen krill today once the lights were off. I guess he's really not settled yet either.

Ive seen midas be picky yes. Ive even had to change food brands a few times. Work with some different textures and ingredients and even pelley sizes. Frozen variety is alway good idea and usually readily accepted. Flakes to pellets to sticks. Youll find what he likes but dont be surprised if it takes him more settling in to gobble up food like a piggy. ;)

If you are wanting to get him to eat pellets as a staple, pre-soak your pellets of choice in the juice of frozen bloodworms. The smell will trigger a feed response in even most wild fish, and the soft texture from being pre-soaked will also increase palatability. Feed a couple of pellets first thing in the AM when fish are generally most hungry, and then wait & try again the next day until it starts accepting the food.

Thanks, good tip. I feed a pretty wide variety of foods to most my fish. My Trimac just eats like a boss, and well my Gulper, enough said there haha.
