I don't think it would be that easy to find so many arowana in a convenient place in the wild. Then again, I've never been to Brasil, so I wouldn't know.

Thought you might say that.......here ya go.....your right drop eye just because they are out of the water.......they all look that way right????
He needs to get out more! He just regurged information he poorly collected from Internet. FYI, he can't tell the difference between a black and a silver...

So make a few ponds that are connected to the main river or risk your live every other week hoping you find some aro fry
I know what I would rather do that just harvest a pond

Do you have any proof to any of your assumptions or are you just shooting from the hip?

Oh please! Don't just regurge 2nd-hand information without putting in some thought or common sense. Going from shutting off river to make a few ponds that are connected to main river, you are hoping to grab something that sticks, aren't you? Take a deep breath, and think! Have you had any idea what kind of effort/man power it takes to either shut off a river or making a few pond? What does it take to fill it with 20-30 breeding specimens? What does it take to care and breed them? You know what you rather do... Really? Have you done any of those thing? Or the only thing you have done is being a keyboard warrior, regurge your assumed, 2nd-hand information, and hoping it makes you look smart? Now, think as a fisherman! Would a fisherman rather do all those thing than "risking life very other week hoping to find some aro fry?" If a fisherman can shut off a river or make a few ponds that are connected to the main river, would he rather be a fisherman or an engineer to build bigger "thing" that makes bigger bucks? Get off that computer, get out from under that rock, go travel and see the world for a change, would you? :screwy:

This is done all the time in Indonesia and Malaysia
Or are you saying South Americans are not as smart as Asian people

It's total rubbish saying that just because they came off a plane from Peru they must be wild caught
It's like saying when a plane comes from Africa all the passengers must be African

It's happens all the time and can be done in a few days they just dig a pit next to the main river then just add a connecting pipe to fill it
It's not rocket science
They catch a few breeding adults that the fry and rather than throw it back they put it in the pond

And as for seeing ponds yes I have visited farms in Indonesia
So I don't see your or anyone else's point about not seeing this for myself
I have also been to a very large fish show in Singapore called aquarama

It was a joke that seemed to fly over your head like everything else we discuss with you.

Also if you know all about drop eye then how come you couldn't prevent it from happening to your snow?

In bro Fong defense, he bought the aro that way, and he did bring up a very interesting theory regarding drop eye. Perhaps, it's the reason why some of the arowana I bought from friends developed DE when they were in my care, when they didn't, when they were with my friends, who raised them for 2-3 years, grew them out to 18"-20" without DE issue. I hardly put light above my tank, just use light in the room or sun light

Since you asked nicely, the only guy who is NOT as smart as Asian or South American is YOU! How much did you pay for your Asian arowana, compare to a silver arowana? If it happens all the time, can be done in a few days (I didn't know it's possible to dig a pond, grow some fish, breed them, harvest fries in few days, unless that person is GOD, who built the world and rest on his 7th day), or as simple as dig a pit next to a river and add a pipe (have you heard of cave-in or erosion?) If it's not rocket science, catch a few breeding adult than fries (care to share how to tell a male from a female adult arowana?) and put them in the pond, would you think Asian arowana costs the same as silver?
What's the point to visit farms Indonesia or big fish show in Singapore? Without common sense, it as same as those looking at pictures "google" off from Internet! The more you type, the obtuse you are!

He said light above is ok but from sides is not which I agree. I bet if you have an arro in a tub or pond there would be much less drop eye then in a tank with glass or acrylic sides.

And onto the fish in question- who cares if it's wild caught or captive bred anyways? I have been collecting for 30 years and I haven't seen a silver like this before so I know it's rare. Who else here has seen a fish exactly like this one? EXACTLY

Because you are lazy and can't organise a team to dig a pond in a few days doesn't mean it can't be done
Give me a team of 20 good construction men and I could get a pond up and running
A team is only as good as its leader
And I wouldn't be scared of a project like that

You say I'm crazy for the price I paid for a Asian aro if that's the case what does it make the person who purchased this aro as I'm sure he paid more than me

How much was paid for this panda aro I have found people who have paid to much never like to tell a price
We get silly replies like it cost as much as a small car

Why are you defending this fish so much your not the owner surely if his job to defend his purchase not yours

Right

Nice aro great colour shame it lost the panda eye shame it got drop eye

If that's not what the owner wants to hear what does he want to hear lies

The bad development are more the the good things about this fish

This fish having drop eye doesn't have an effect on how rare it is does it? NO and drop eye will obviously bring the value down a little but you can get surgery done to correct it. Also being captive bred or wild caught doesn't matter at this point the rarity factor comes with availability. Have you seen another silver like this before? Please do show me pics? We are still waiting for BroFong to post pics which he hasn't. I can post pics of snow arrow all day but I can't find a pic like this fish. So which is rarer?
