Even though i have experience in various fish but im new to flowerhorn.3 days back i bought a flowerhorn juvenile about 1" small. Please give me idea regarding its care.
Also what should be its diet for a healthy and colourful growth.
Reply appreciated

well this little brat is like the king of the tank.running full day round.he made me burn my fats to take its pics but in vain.all pics are either blurred or only the tail of fish:)
he is not accepting those pellets with interest.but however when my younger bro gave him an ant the became a lot more excited
im planning to shift it on a non as soon as it grows 2 inch more.well i dont know about the consequence of my idea.
reply appreciated

See the top of the page where it says 4 things you must know, and the other stickys? You should probably read those.
:iagree: Feed him mini pellets not small or medium....I have my FH on Hakari staple, Hakari Gold, Hikari Bio Gold +, Grand Sumo, and ocean free Humpy Head..(all those are pellets) and I feed him a little bit of each everyday I mix the pellets...I also give him treats with either frozen or live Bloodworms, and live Gohst Shrimp....Make sure you either have a blue or colorful background...the darker the background the darker your fish will get...Trust me from experience...lol...good filtration and at least 25% to 30% water changes a week...must do the water change so the FH will grow fast and to it's max size....(depending on the size of it's tank) Good Luck Mate!:headbang2

flowerhorns adjust to the color of gravel background light etc so brighter the better. also give it some color enhancing food such as hikari brands, Alife, grand sumo etc. also try to give it some bloodworms as a treat here and there. people look for kok (pronounced as coke not Co*k LOL) they need minimum of 40 gallons. feed it once a day skip a day and feed it the next day. or if you love your flowerhorn very much feed it 3-4 times a day. thats up to the owner.
