New Wolf Fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mala's are hogs my - 12" eats 3-4 silverslides daily - I've seen him eat a 2x 5" Cichlids that were badly injured by other cichlids. He used to eat shrimp but lost the taste for it. A secure lid is essential - they try to escape the tank by using their heads as battering rams. Grew him from 3-4" to 12" in less than a year in a 55gal.- moved him to a 120XH -48x24x24 - to much room - he hit that glass lid like a ballistic missle. He's now in a 75 with 4 bricks on the lid. Used to use duct tape - not any more. He doesn't need tankmates - one of the most impressive fish I've ever owned.

Wolf and piranha that's an awesome combo. Wouldn't want to try it in a 4 foot tank though. Makes me miss my shoal of red bellies.

I know, thinking of trying it in my 180g if no one buys my wolf. it's in a 10g now since I sold the 75g.

i think that will be danger jack. I had my 180 gal divided with my elong and lacerdae and somehow the divider swayed and overnight the elong chomped the tail of the wolf so bad, i had to hospital tank my wolf back to normal:(

hoplias malabaricus can be kept with most fish large enough to not get eaten.
of course, some individuals can be really mean...you should try getting him with other tankmates before he establishes a territory.
ive found theyll eat anything,pellets,smelt,shrimp.
just dont handfeed them...it really hurts when they get you.
but thats pretty obvious i guess...LOL
a 4x2x2 minimum for life IMO,and you could keep a few in there.

I know Reef, that's why I'm still "thinking" about it instead of doing it now.
also looking for a breeder tank in the mean while, or if I can find a 75g for dirty cheap.
