Back to the previous pictures of the 'Special' Mala's Hoplias Teres is also native the the Venezualen and Columbian areas. I cannot find any species specific defining charactoristics in regards to Teres.

i think teres is in the malabaricus family correct?
these also look like the ecuadorian "big head" malabaricus i saw sometime ago.

ok, so with the impending arrival (Wednesaday) and the fact that this chap is much bigger than i was expecting, i have to make a few decisions as to what will be able to cohab with the big fella. I went to see a chap i know at a LFS who has offered me a 75g for nothing so that i can move things sufficiently to house the black as well as keep everything else. So if the black has to go in the 210g, how should i balance the tanks?

210g current stock;

14" Poly. Ornatipinnis
13" Common Plec
11" Gold Wolf
8" Gold Wolf
10" Tatuaia
2x 9" PT Chalceus
1x 8" Hujeta
9" Geo Brasiliensis (M)
6" Geo Brasiliensis (F)
4x 8" Geophagus
7" Brycon M.
7" Lismodoras Oncinus

proposed 210g stock;

12-13" Black Wolf
11" and 8" Gold Wolf
10" Tatauia
2x 9" PT Chalceus
All Geophagus
Hujeta
7" Lismodoras

75g stock;
14" Poly.
13" Common plec
7" Brycon M.

what do people think? I feel the Poly. could be an issue with the black but i need to spit the poly and Lismodoras anyway and also the Brycon from the geophagus. The other worry is the smaller wolf but i don't want to split the Gold Wolves.

I am considering putting other things in the 75g but full stocking will occur later. Ultimately it depends on the starting stock so any thoughts and ideas are appreciated. Oh, and one final point; I know that the big black has been kept with snakeheads for a period of time without issue.

Ta.

Mate, your going to be so chuffed with this black mate as it is stunning..
i had steve here this morning and he said that is a nice fish, keep your eyes of steve its liam's lol...

plus he got it for a bargain, jammy bugger lol....

i would say try whatever you want out,with an assortment of tankmates like that,you never know whether it could go smooth or end in casualties.

Those "mala/black/god knows" wolves are AWESOME. You UK guys should jump on these. Definitely not a run-of-the-mill mala. More than likely, not even a mala at all.
