Mala. Aimara are the one species that there is no question about ID....
 
mala, and it'll get way bigger than 7-8".

from what I've read/heard that they grow to 12" rather quickly (probably in the first year or so)then slow down. and if kept in home aquarium they rarely grow above 20" (maybe max out at around 17-18"??... in the wild I think they grow up to around 22"-24" or so. it's one of the smaller ones in the hoplias genus.
what size tank are you keeping it in?

Right now it is in a 30 gal (all 3-4" of him looks terribly lost in the tank haha) and I have a 50 gal with a good footprint for later
