Hi there... Nice that you were able to get a new group.. They look very nice.. good luck with them... Sue
Thanks SusieQ! I'm really happy with this new group of discus, all of them are eating like pigs and they are always chill and don't run when I get in front of the tank!

Alright then, here's my honest opinion....

The first fish looks to be a decent fish overall, some discoloration around the gills.

The second fish is dark, with large cloudy eyes, does not look healthy.

The bottom fish is of poor color, has pepper, poor shape with large eyes. Stunted for sure. Has a lot of gill discoloration, looks to be a sickly fish.

Have these fish been exposed to any measurable amount of ammonia? The gill discoloration would indicate this. Anyway, good luck with them.

Well, thanks for the comment, they are not sick at all... all of them eat right from my hand, and their feces are not white at all, their gills are fine, no parasites or bacteria, I don't know about the discoloration you mentioned. I do a 100% water change daily to my 250gal tank, where this discus are, so that helps their health a lot... the I know the blue one is very dark, but it is because the pigeon is above him on the hierarchy, so he is always with stressed colors, but he is perfectly fine... for the two small ones you can say what ever you want about them because I wasn't the one who bought them :)

does anyone know what is the variety of this discus?

Hard to tell for sure, because they are juvenile, and lacking a lot of color, but look like juvie red turquoise. Healthy looking fish.

thanks hillbilly, they are at a nice size, they are not very small, I guess around 10-12cm... do you think they will eventually grow nice colors?

Sure, with proper food, and clean water, they should grow out real nice. Here is one of my red turquise adults:
