Just got this guy today for $20, was listed as a redtail but can't find very much info on these guys. Any info would be appreciated, thank you.

Similar to keeping red tails but get bigger. Takes some work to get off of feeders. But if you have other top level fish then will learn from them ton get to pellets. Better to have a group. I like to think of these guys as a poor man's ATF.

I was actually planning on getting a vatf but i wanted to try this guy out first. Rachel said hes belly up now but still alive. I had to rush acclimating him because i had to go into work. Hopefully he will be ok though.. i feel bad now

Sorry to hear. They are very easily stressed. Hopefully he will survive. Make sure you have some floating plants as it'll keep him a bit more calm once settled in. Good luck.

I tested the water and the nitrites were a little off so I did a water change just to be safe, the other fish in there are acting fine though. I did notice a small scratch on the bottom of his stomach, there's a faint red line & some small pieces of skin hanging around it. Its really small, doesn't look like a bite or anything. He is breathing normal now, just staying in one spot, still upside down though. He is wiggling around, almost like he can't flip back over? He is getting mad and biting at things around him as well. Just not sure if there is anything else I can do for him or should be doing for the scratch on his belly? Lol sorry if these are dumb questions Cody is definitely more of the fish keeper in the relationship and he's stuck at work so I'm on my own with this one.

What are the tankmates? How long was it in the bag for?

2 senegals, a lapradrei, and a green phantom pleco. Theyre all like 4-5 inches. He was in the bag for maybe 45 minutes to an hour. Cody acclimated him in before he left.
