Looks nice! I think you have what they call the thick skin version of what I have. They are a bit more colorful. Still very nice though. I found some males I just have to order them lol. Gonna get a couple more females too.

I'm not aware of a thick skin morph. Typically, the thick skin common name denotes a different species, which is the sp. 44.

Looks female based on pics, but like said above, it could easily be stressed out and not showing color.

I have 3 females and they're JUST like yours. For some reason my males keep dying. My females are fully grown, and the males I purchased back then are long gone. I recently picked up another to grow out as he wasn't quite their size, and he passed away last night completely at random, along with my flameback. :(

I believe his is the sp 44. They have more color. I could be wrong, but from the pic of the male that's what I got from it.

This is not an sp.44. Most certainly it is an Astatotilapia latisfasciata. The latest pic upon closer inspection shown a very extended buccal cavity, leading me to think it positively a female.

Mine is with mbuna and haps with no problem. The only time she gets aggressive is during dinner time. The other fish don't even bother her. Soon I'm gonna have a small group of them. I found a breeder with a great blood line.
