what kind of aro are you planning on keeping?
have you done alot of reading so far...there are some online books....
also what size of tank were you thinking of starting with....
my advice is to start with a silver aro they are cheeper and more readily available and then the jardini and african aro unless you want to pay atleast a 1000$ for an asian..wich for a beginer is almost suicidal..but dont let me stop you from buying what you want ...
many other people will chime in with other advice..good luck
and have a nice day
thank you goestonemoa for your reply, haha definitely can't afford an asian on atm. am doing more read ups on stuff. currently a 4ft tank and planning to keep a small one first, will change to a bigger tank when the arow grows bigger.
hi shacklock.. all the best with the aro.. being from sing i think you have enough choice between all the variants of aros.. with experience and a wallet to consider.. silvers anyday.. my personal preference has been silvers.. got 4 of em and each have their own character.. its always better to go have a look at the fish first.. see what you like and go with it.. i'm assuming you have some years of experience with fish keeping and are moving to an aro.. no fish is tough unless and until you are ready to care for it the way it should be.. it takes a lot of time and dedication also.. cheers.. all the best again.. keep us posted..
thanks kaya for the advice! but i dont have much experience actually but i ultimately wanna keep an arow in the future so i guess i'll start with some beginner fish first
aro's grow so fast it's hard to have a big enough tank.
If you don't have the budget to get a larger system, I'd wait.
Nothing worse than having your aro outgrow your system, AGAIN.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my Silver for my last two upgrades.
No arowana is suitable for the beginning fish keeper. The 4 foot tank you have will only last about a year, that's even starting with a baby silver aro.
I like how people are suggesting a silver, because they are cheap. Why would you buy as fish expecting to fail First gain the knowledge and no that you can properly house the fish before you buy the arowana. There are many other fish to keep and gain experience with, which are not as demanding as arowana.
