Throw the 10 gal in the garbage lol there nothing but a pain in the butt look on Craigslist for at lest a 30 gal u can get used tanks pretty cheap on there the smaller the tank the harder they are to take care of I'm new too welcome to the hobby there's a lot of nice people here that will help you along were are u from I have a 55 in the shed that I'm not using right now it just the tank with nothing else I'll give it to you to help you get started if you live close by

Really you really think that have you ever tried to keep a 10 gal tank I can leave a 125 gallon running a full year with out doin even a water change just adding water when its low there was no alge and it was a cichlid tank I can't leave my sons little 10 go a week

I have a 10gal w/ a baby 2/3" serrasalmus rhom! Params have been perfect with seeded bio, i test daily and wc daily for 0-5ppm nitrates! I have a 90gal as well and its hard as heck to keep nitrates low!

But for the money you would spend on a 10 gal set up if you did it right you could setup a 20 or 30 gal for a couples more dollars and give a fish room to swim

True but it was laying around so i didnt have to buy anything, the only reason why i like it so much is cuz a 50% wc is 5gallons and everyday wc are a breeze compared to my 90! I guess alot depends on stock, filtration and tap params, but still 0ppm nitrates are great for growing a massive piranha

Look at the dwarfs like rams or something in those lines just seach dwarf cichlids on the net.
