Newbie 110 gallon set up. Help?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You cut the acrylic , or dividers to size and silcone in place with aquarium safe silicone, your not trying to bond the acrylic to the glass with glue , same principle as putting a dividers in a tank except you just use silicone one the seams
After reading articles and watching videos I wanted to say THANKS! I would be a fool not to use my 55 gallon and build a sump! Much better than canisters :-). I'm just deciding on a build. Include wet/dry? Etc.

I found a 55 gallon sump already assembled glass on glass buffers. Last picture. $100. Cheaper than I could get glass cut and build myself. If I can get $100 for my 55 gal and 20 gal it would be break even. Can someone please look at the set up? Don't know why it has a hole drilled in bottom? The first two pics are my acrylic 110 gallon, upside down as it's waiting on the deck. Thanks y'all - you guys!

It's easy for you guys, but confusing to newbies. I just learned you can't use acrylic on a 55 gal glass tank.. I guess it doesn't bond. I'll keep looking or just throw old school ugf with two aquaclear hob's in the 55 gallon underneath. Thanks to those people trying to help!

You don't need baffles or cut outs. You can just go with bio media and your pumps. Baffles are a waste unless your specifically trying to separate areas of a sump for ressons like refugium s and what not. Sumps are super simple. All you need is a pump and some filter socks. You can make a sock holder out of eggcrate or small diameter pvc. Jebao pumps are cheap and reliable

Guys! $100 for this 55 glass sump with Refugium sounds great to me. Any advice? Where to place and what media for African Cichlids?

Media should go after mech filtration at or near the pumps

Thanks Jaws.. is there a more appropriate forum for media suggestions. I was thinking mechanical sponges first. Bioballs or pot scrubbies in bags and maybe aragonite in the center "refugium" to help ph and easy to siphon any build up?

Your in the right section as far as mech I prefer filter socks over foam but that doesn't mean my way is the only way. You can start as many threads as you like or ask as many questions you like. The more opinions you get the better
