HI . This is my first post and i am joining up hoping to hopefully get some good advice on my passion for keeping unusual oddballs and interesting tropical fish species. I have kept several over the years in my 4ft tank but have now ordered a nice 323 litre tank so want to start getting some ideas. One species i have allways been interested in is Arowana , before i go on , I KNOW that a 323 litre tank is too small for a silver arowana long term . But there are other species i know , jardini / pearl / chilli etc , are these possible candidates for my new set up ? i would not mind paying a bit more to find the right fish .
I currently have a bunch of good size silver dollars , a couple of silver sharks , a few catfish , plus a jardini eartheater , but most importantly a very large ornate birchir more than a foot long which i have had a few years, so anything new needs to be compatible with those please ! If aros are completly out of the question , any other good sized oddballs that would suit this set up would be reaaly gladly appreciated
Thanks daveyb

ok. so what i have listed is TOO many for a 323 ltr tank allready ? anyone else have a second opinion ? I hope this isnt just a place where people like to power trip and put us newbies in our place and thats all . the reply says arowana no way , but like i said , i thought their were other species apart from the silver that can reach 3ft , that were smaller ?

thanks for that helpful reply red claw. i will get the measurements on here . like i say earlier, if aro is an absolute no no , any other interesting ideas would be great !

Even the smaller species of aro like jardini get at least two feet which is waaay to big for your tank! ;) I'd say get rid of the silver sharks and get some interesting surface-living fish like Ctenolucius Hujeta !:)

no but it is only about a 90 gallon, the tank measurements would help

Measurements won't help any, as the minimum volume to properly keep any species of arowana is going to be around 800 liters. This tank of 323 liters is to small regardless of the dimensions. Sorry no arowanas.

ok, so no arowanas. just checking about the smaller species though guys ! Ctenolucius Hujeta , interesting , rocket gar , had one of those before, really nice fish and love them , but the online info says they also can reach two foot long ? !
