Hi guys,
I'm a newbie and would kindly request your advices! I bought a crossback aro and it's with me for 2 months now.He was eating twice a day and slowly reduced and now completely stop eating for about 3 days already. He is also hiding in one corner on n off.I have 1 aro,1 IT and 5 clown loaches. It seems,I saw this changes when I introduced this new tank mates,my water ph is always at 7.5 and I have no idea of how to reduce it despite adding driftwood with tropical moss on it.My tank is 4ft with sump.
Thanks in advance for your time and great help guys.Greatly appreciated!

Welcome to MFK! Have you tested your water parameters, and what is your wc routine. Also have you noticed any aggressive behavior towards the Aro from the Dat.

Thanks so much. For the past two weeks,I change water every 3-4 days about 20%-30%.For the water parameters, the PH charts indicates around the range of 7.5.Lastly,yes.while feeding pellets for my aro, even though it was not eating but was swimming at the surface near the pellets and suddenly bite one of the clown loaches who was trying to grab one of the pellets from the surface.I was shocked to see that reaction.

Sometimes Aro's get finicky once in awhile, make sure to feed an assortment of foods.:)

that's territorial behavior ... quite normal
give it time to adapt or change its diet
about ph level you dont worry its OK, and dont try to bring down the ph if you are no expert

Its a little hard to say with info provided but I would just monitor for a while and see what happens. He's still looking good but your right for being suspicious, it is coincidental that this fish stopped feeding around the introduction of these other fish; especially if they didn't receive a six week quarantine.

I'll just monitor like you mention and sorry I'm not really sure about the 6 weeks quarantine. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.I got a lot to learn.

As the others have already mentioned keep an eye on things daily , it does sound like territorial behaviour he's just working the others out , keep testing your water and keep up with the wc's , you should also try adding some surface cover with floating plants real or fake this will give your aro less stress not having to worry about what's above him and so he can use the upper water levels as territory.
