Forget about Eheim there are much better and affordable filters available. I have a 2217 and the flow is rate is dissapointing at best. The 2217 is better suited for a 30g tank than a 55G tank

What do you mean by a grey import? The shop is located in Australia (not china or anything), its an aquarium shop in melbourne
Grey imports are those that are made for other countries outside of Australia and aren't to aus standards they just remove the plug and put on an aus one on, the easiest way to find out if it's a genuine eheim, is to check if the shop is an eheim retailer here, if they are a retailer then you don't have to worry.
Some places get them cheap from overseas and sell them here at the aus retail price, the warranty is void if they are used out side of the region they are made for.
^^ Well I was doing some research, and most Aus retailers sell eheim 2217 for like $300+ and whats better is, i ordered it of ebay, and I pay really good attention to consumer feedback, especially if seller is located in Australia...all the ppl that purchased eheim of him, are very pleased 
so I guess, yeah it should be fine...
and Cutty Sark, thing about the flow rate, I don't mind that at all, as long as my tanks clean...because in a 55gal the flow rate of eheim is pretty hard... 264GPH in a 55gallon should not be bad at all, especially with one fish...
If the water circulation is not that good, ill just add my water pump back on!

Eheim's are designed to be bio filters. Biological filtration is most effective at a low flow rate. I highly disagree with there being a better more affordable filter out there.
For cloudy water I think there are much better filters. As stated above Eheims are great bio filters but that isn't where the problem is. For cloudy water I would look at either a Magnum 350 or a DE (Diatom) filter. Both of these are really only mechanical filters but mechanical filtration is what is needed to clear cloudy water. I run my Magnum 350 with the micron filter cartridge 24x7. It is very good at caging most of the fine particles. Nothing I have seen beats a Diatom filter for water polishing! I run my Vortex if the water starts to get a little cloudy or if I see signs of algae. The Vortex will make my 110gal crystal clear in a matter of a couple of hours. The last time I added sand I didn't even bother prewashing, the diatom cleared out the dust cloud in a couple hours.

I have decided to take out my sand before installing my eheim...my sand it the beach sand type sand...for a FLOWERHORN its BAD BAD BAD...he digs it EEVERYWHERE... so im going to use a THIN layer of Red and White Gravel for him to dig around in...
I will keep my old hang on filters running for some time, so the eheim gets settled in with the bacteria... is that ok?
