Newbie. Problems with my new used tank.

if nothing else works, remember that those marks aren't that visible when the tank is filled with water

The build up on tanks is exactly like the build up we all experience in our kitchen appliances when we use tap water. Which generally ends up being Calcium build up. Soaking it in salt (NaCl) will sometimes break down it a bit.

Thanks guys for all the replies. I think I'm going to fill the tank and check for leak. While it's full I'll judge whether or not I want to try and buff it or not.
