newbie question, why are piranhas illegal anyways?

actually, pirnahas are dangerous. if they bite you they'll easily tear off a chunk of your meat with their razor sharp teef.

I live in New Jersey and they are not illegal. I believe they are illegal in the southern states, because the can survive in the warmer waters. Check with your state laws.

Okay.. soI have a second person account of a piranha attack. My good friend just got back from a missons trip to Brazil. While she and a friend were swimming in the river, the girl next to her was bitten by several piranha. Not the fish's fault. that is how they survive. I would say it was the Swimmer;s fault. Still don't see why you couldn't keep one in a tank.

they are not illegal in all states. Just some. WA so happens to be one of the Northern states that ban them. they are legal in OR and ID.

Very interesting... I think I will ask them the next time I go by... "So, are this fish illegal?"

thay have it written right on the tank " PIRANHA - DO NOT TOUGH"
