I noticed that too when I had my first aro. I still feed Hikari Cichlid Gold to my Oscar, but my new freaking aro still won't accept them. I might need to starve him out now that he's 7 inches approaching 8.

shouldn't be kept with large or small chiclids when they are small
should be kept alone when they are small so that theya ren't harassed by any other fish

When you say 'small' how small do you mean in terms of inches? When is it okay to put them back into the larger tank - generally speaking?

those are pretty good as well...my Jar is the complete opposite...he would never eat the Hikari food sticks..but, he would demolish cichlid pellets like crazy...it's a good thing my indo dat likes those food sticks..b/c i hate buying food for nothing .

I know what you mean. I got 1 real fussy one in my tank which only accept the foodsticks but no the pellets....
