Hello all! The name is Austin and I just got a 125 gallon tank. I run an eheim Ecco peo rated for a 75 gallon tank and I have an aquatop that is rated for 75 gallons when I switch from my 55. I have one Oscar, but I see so many interesting fish that I want I don't know what to get. Fronts, wolfs, jags, BGKs, crabs, shrimp.....I'm confused! I want freshwater, I like color and I like aggression, just not so much that I can't keep other species. So any suggestions as far as stock goes, I'd greatly appreciate! Also anything else, like filtration, substrate and the like, please educate me! Thanks and I'm glad I'm a new member here!:grinno:

If you like color and aggression go with African chiclids, when you want to change directions just sell them off and start in a new direction. Selling fish is really easy just as long as your not trying to make a profit. Hobbyist here change direction all the time, you just have to be responsible with it. Welcome to MFK!

with those 2 filters you will have 150 gallons of filtration. if you have larger fish then i would get more filtration over filtration is good. for substrate i like to use pool filter sand it is easy to clean and it looks awesome. with your fish just do some research and find what species of fish you like the most. i like raising south/central american cichlids.
just have fun with it

I guess thats decision number one, what tank to setup?

Aggressive monster tank
Aggressive community tank
Planted community tank
Peaceful monster tank...

But im sure you get the idea... So welcome to MFK :)

Thanks so much! I used to have an aquarium when I was a kid (long ago!). Mack then we just put fish in a tank and that's it, but now I have to monitor water conditions, changes and all that, but I'm excited! I am leaning toward frontosas, like maybe 5(?),6(?). Also some tank mates like moorii's(?) compressed cichlids(?) and a crab or shrimp or two? Or clown loaches too! Thanks for the welcome, and I am glad for any and all advice given!

Those polypterus' are awesome! I may go that route too....I've got a lot of research to do.....oh, and noted about the crab and shrimp! (that sounded good to me just saying it! Crab and shrimp...)yeah I won't get those for now. Thanks everyone!

Research is your best friend haha personally I'm a poly and chicla type of guy with a few dabbles in arowanas and datnoids but good luck in which ever path you choose bro! Welcome to MFK!
