hey guys im pretty new to the scene i just got my first silver 3 months about growing really fast, and i got my second jardini cause my first one died :( but yeah i just have a really quick question, why does my arowana freak out when i go near my tank? both of them do that?! how do i make them not freak out, and does yours freak out?! i need some info

Their probably not use to their new environment yet or u the owner. Spend more time with ur fish watch them swim and eat. My rtg use to freak out when I first brought him home too. He still freaks out when I put On my bubble jacket or a different color shirt, I think it's because of my sudden growth in size with the jacketthat freaks him out. There's been studies that fish can recognize colors but it's also been a debate amongst gurus. So spend more time with ur fish and let them know ur face and body.

he pretty much sleeps with me i wake up and he sees me i have a 55gallon in my room everytime i enter the room i just watch him, really werid of me but thats what i do. and he still freaks out idk why

you have a jardini and a silver in a 55?
aro's are nervous fish, its natural for them to be jumpy at least for the first while.

your aro is going to out grow the 55 real fast... back to your question.

give it some time to adjust. if the problem remains after 2 weeks. you could try what i did.

feed the aro less, alot less. this way the fish stays hungry and it will swim to you to feed instead of running away to hide. once it gets used to you, you can feed normally again.
my friend sugested this method when i had the same problem, and it worked for me, only took a few days.

good luck

your gonna need a bigger tank and the silver and jar probably inst the best idea even though i am doing it right now with not the most aggression

Oh dear. that tank is too small for 2 arros.

Good luck. I hope they don't fight to the death.

Have you noticed any difference in nervousness depending on what color you're wearing? My silver used to freak and jump out of the tank whenever I wore a red shirt. It hated anything red....

thats interesting.
i recently read a post about putting something red inside the canopy can discourage aros from jumping.
