Thank you everyone for your quick and CONSISTANT replies! I see this was a good move on my part and clearly a more active and helpful forum. I was kind of leaning for toward to GT's anyway so thanks for telling me what I wanted to hear lol. Next question, dither fish. Do I need them? What should I be looking at? Old forum said silver dollars?
Silver dollars get big and are really active and they need to be in schools.... I think a larger type of tetra would be better....

If you can find spotted silver dollars, they look awesome and max at about 4-5". But...GT's aren't the fastest nor the most predatory of cichlids so you could probably get away with some smaller dithers. I have spotted SD's in my tank and love them. About a week ago my female Festae went on a rampage and killed four of them and one of my Flagtails. :(

i would go with some kind of rainbow fish, a few choices.they are fast, also could do giant danios.maybe another pair of cichlids instead of green terrors?

I already mantioned this in another threat so I'll tell you too. I had 2 GT's gold saum and i kept them with a pair of convict cichlids and they were doing great. The convicts even spawned and had two dozen babies in there. No agression at all so you might try that. Get a good filtration though and best of luck.

P.S. keep in mind though that each cichlid has it's own personality and while some people had mellow ones, other had real beasts, but generally it helps when u start them of together as young.

Yeah i agree a pair of Green Terrors would be nice as said you would be best getting a young group and growing them on to gain a pair, unless your lucky and find someone or somewhere selling a proven breeding pair.

Good Luck.

Thanks Darren.

silver dollars would be okay if the filtration allows, otherwise just put in target fish, quarantine them till you know they're clean and expect them to get beat up or even killed. larger tetras work fine, will help the bond between the terrors also

Silver Dollars are too expensive for me.

I use Giant Danios. Once a few get eaten, I replace them. Seems like my big guy mannages to nab about 2 a month.

Tiger barbs or torpedo barbs might work well too.

And then get a couple pictus cats, clown loaches, or something like that as a clean up crew. I'm partial to pictus.
