  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's cool! I wish I'd been able to get one years ago. I'm looking mroe forward to their development everyday. I should be able to get some more shots of them on Friday.

mine must be an anomoly, he holds his own and even is aggressive to some fish, he doesn't even back down from the trimac where my other viejas do

Mine is aggressive also and rules his tank,he is in with viejas, and bocourti's.
He is also 14" head to tail(measured him the last time i reaarrange the tank)and will out eat any fish in the tank.
So be prepared to upgrade soon mine was almost a foot in 14 months.DSC04453.JPGDSC04025.JPG

what are you feeding them?

My basic regimen is Tetra MicroCrabs (Cyclopeeze), Omega One kelp flakes and staple flakes, Hikari Bio-Gold and Cichlid Gold, Ocean Nutrition Marine Algae sheets with added Garlic, frozen Blood worms and Brine Shrimp, and for these guys I added Tetra's TetraVeggies cichlid pellets to the mix.

I'm gonna try giving them some fresh veggies and fruits to see how they respond. They're cautious eates right now, approaching everything slowly and nibbling, or picking off the floor of the tank, but they do finish everything in sight.

I expected fast growth but wow that's quick! I can put them in a pool as the get really big. That'll give me incentive to add tankmates to the lot!

I will have decent pics soon, but just wanted to note that these guys are far from the eating machines I'd read them to be. They are grazers for sure, eating only a little at a time (sure sign of a veggie lover) but they hardly like anything! The only food they consume with gusto is frozen Bloodworms, and I don't think they've so much as swallowed ANY of the other prepared foods I offer. I'll have to try some lettuce and fruits on them this weekend, but they haven't liked the kelp, the veggie flakes or the veggie pellets.

I had to put a Pimelodus blochii in the tank just to deal with the leftovers!

just give them a chance to really settle in,once they start best believe u will have no problem with them eating.

Welcome. that is one fish that i never had a problem with eating.
