Just got this little guy (or gal) this past Wednesday. I currently have him in a 10g quarantine tank and he will go into my 38g grow out tank eventually with my ctenopoma acutirostre and senegal bichir. He's just about 3" long right now. I've wanted one since my high school days so I'm super excited to finally own one!

Nice grab!

Thanks everyone. He's starting to be a little bit more active now.. didn't move a bit the first day he arrived. Still won't eat.. I've tried frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, omega one shrimp pellets, and hikari sinking carnivore pellets.

Give a little more time it will eat suggest offering the pellets and bloodworms and brine shrimp as a treat.

Beauiful Del! I've passed on many at the fish store, but that one I would love to own. Congrats

I spoke a bit too soon.. did a partial water change and he ate a piece of freeze dried shrimp! Held it in front of his face for a good minute or two with tweezers before he decided to chomp on it.

Will do. I generally don't like feeding the frozen stuff because it makes such a mess. I have some NLS 3mm sinking pellets on the way that I hope to get all my fish on as a staple.

Thank you! None of my LFSs had one or could order one for me so I had to take a chance buying online. I'm excited to see how his pattern will develop with time.

Try frozen fish, too - most of us here use it as a staple along with the pellets. I had smaller UJs so used Silversides, but most here use Tilapia because it's cheaper.

Thanks, I'll get a fillet of tilapia next time i'm grocery shopping and cut thin strips out. I'll check if my LFS has silversides too. He's eating well. Still loves freeze dried shrimp the most but is starting to take hikari carnivore pellets. Won't touch shrimp pellets yet though.
