I asked the guy how long he's had him and what size he was when purchased. He said "several years" so no exact time, but he was about an inch when purchased. You guys are right, some people just don't know...or maybe don't care. He may have just wanted rid of him. Oh well, he's doing very well in my tank...

I should have asked what he was feeding him. So far he loves cucumber and kale/collards. I don't think he quite gets the shrimp pellets yet.
Yeah, well...don't get too excited for me yet. In my haste I think I brought back ich to this tank (no quarantine). He's the only one who has it now, and I'm treating it, but still nervous because he's new.
