Welcome my two new little convicts...

If anyone can sex them that would be fantastic! Hoping to have a male and female...

The bigger one seems to have a bit of an issue on one of his fins... is that something to worry about? It looks somewhat injured... wasn't there when I picked him up at the shop...

The first picture looks female, But the color on the belly is not quit orange/pinkish. The other one is a male.

Female cons have orange/pinkish bellys. Like My little girl.

Lovely little one you have there...

I thought I had picked out the one with the orange/pink belly but when I got home I noticed it was gone. So I suspect the wrong one got scooped up.

But she is still really tiny, about an inch.

Nice , i am not sure if i should get a couple for my tank . Been looking at them for a while every time i go to my LFS but i am not sure if i should get them .

Unfortunately the little convict in the first two pics, my suspected female, did not make it through

She was taken as a snack by one of my Oscars.

I always look at them every time i go into my LFS , every time they have them in but never really pay much attenion to them i just have a quick look in thier tank as some time there something new and intesting in it to buy ,

but then go over to the better , larger , more expensive fish but for some reason i have been watching them alot more and now i am kind of thinking i should get 1 or 2 or more .

About £1.99 at the size of about 2 - 3inch so really i am not lossing anything if they do get eaten by my Oscar or other fish like your Female Convict did .

I am quite bummed about the little girl getting eaten. Didn't see that coming to be honest. I suppose I'll just have to find him a bigger lady friend

GLUTTINESS little buggers.Remember though a lot of guys raise thier own baby convicts to be used as oscar food.

well look on the brighter side now you can be sure you get a female..... take my advice look for the pink scales on the belly!!!!! even if you only see one pink scale get it!!! Females start to show the pink belly at as small as 1/4 inch!!!! im tellin everyone if you want some drama, action, life in your tank get a pair....!!!! they are my favorite out of all that i have.... i have 5 fh, 2 severum, 4 JD, 7 blood parrots, 5 king Kong parrots, 1 midas, 2 salvini, 2 rainbows, 1 fire mouth, 1 green terror, 1 placo, several corys, and 3 honduran red points..... the hondurans are awesome too!!! very similar to cons but much more showy in coloration and calmer personalities..... but i also have 1 calico female con, pink con pair, 4 regular con males and 2 reg con females!!! i could use the room but cant seen to part with them... oh by the way the first pic is def a female!!! so u were right on...but look for brighter ones like the one in the pic from "Hayenchinook"....good luck !!! keep us updated....if you were local id offer you a female
