Yea im so sick of them trying to switch them for $26 once i ask for them. They get them in as red texas and put them in the rt tank and them try to tell you its a fh. Ive gone througj this 3 times already im so sick of it. I always get them when i see them because i like seeing what they grow into. Ive had aloy of variety but no real red texas.

This is what happens when commercial stores bring in fish for money and fads...no surprise they don't know wtf they are talking about. I'm sure you guys know that lol.

They bring in fish they know nothing about and then pretend to know more than you do to up the price. Sad part is im sure theyve fooled people that dont know anybetter. The girl even said oh they arent red texas because they arent red. She kept trying to look for red fish.

I was in my local petsmart (which i fequent) and I always ask a different employee about their "Red Texas". I ask do any of them ever look like the picture.... All of the employees say "No, but they will look exactly like it when they get older." I just shake my head... But yesterday one told me they all look like the picture when they get them off the truck.

Ive seen many of these threads. A couple things come into play that are never really brought up. 1) A lot of the times you have a an employee that doesnt work in that department when you are helped. They do come to help and get fish for you because they dont want to keep you waiting. You may not appreciate a less knowledgeable person, but the greater half of customers would throw a hissy fit after waiting more than 5 min waiting for the knowledgeable associate for that department. 2) They move fish around from tank to tank for various reasons, and they do jump from tank to tank. 3) Just because a fish is in a different tank doesnt mean you get it for the price of the specific species thats primarily in the tank. You pay the price of that fish's picture tag. 4) True red texas or not, the fish is 6.99 and dont expect to get a $500 stunner. Whether sold as a red texas or flowerhorn, 90% of both these fish turn out pretty good looking and worth the 26.99.

I don't think anyone here would mention or comment on the employee if they weren't the fish department employee. At least i wasn't. I know that the employees i Deal with are the fish "specialist" or the manager even in charge of the fish inventory and sales. And i cant speak for the other threads but my incidents occur when a bag labeled red texas is floating in the red texas tank then released and when they're asked for they tell you oh no those arent red texAs those are flowerhorn considering the tank labled flowerhorn was empty. Which is what angered me because if they were so sure they were flowerhorns why didnt they put them in the flowerhorn tank. Unfortunately the petsmart red texas vary so much from one fish to another they end up saying the same three fish that came in the same bag are three different fish priced at $26 each according to them. I dont think anyone is expecting a high grade red texas but the fish in the tank labled $6.99 should be sold for $6.99 if it came a that fish in there inventory. I understand if a $25 blue ahli jumps into the tetra tank you cant expect it to get it for $1.99 but if they order three rt and get three rt and put them in the rt tank and inventory as $6.99 rt what gives them the right to change the price to whatever they want based on what they "think" it might be because it doesnt look just like the adult show grade red texas on the label. Lets flip it. Once at petsmart for whatever reason a sunfish had come in with some peacock cichlids. I asked the guy what is that? He said sunfish it came in by accident. I said how much is it. He said $24.99 (the peacock cichlid price) i said but its not a peacock he said we have to sell it for it whatever it comes in as. So now magically the red texas that come in as red texas dont have to be sold as their label? How convenient.

I would also like to add that yes, a lot of the labled red texas are kamfa fh. But depending on your region and its fish vendor, there are actually true red texas coming in. My regions stores have true red texas, be it not "super" red texas. I have grown out a few and they turned out true. Most stores in my area have a few people who come in on fish day and buy them out all at once.

do you work @ petsmart or petco?

Does anyone have pictures of a quality red texas from petsmart? im talkin real bright red w/ nice big pearls, not a decent flower horn w/ some red they bought as a red texas. i have seen a few very nice flower horns now and then at petsmart, but most of the time they are lame. So whose got the almighty rare and elusive SUPER RED TEXAS?!!?
