We already Ided it one of the Paramesotriton sp Warty newts...definately not a Mandarin...FYI a true paddletail newt is Pachytriton labiatus which has no "warts" or ridges...

Yeah I was wondering about the turtle too, seeing as most newts are rather toxic.

yes its in with the turtles i have danios, snails the turtles dont bother them
20 g waiting just in case
the turtle are aquatic lawn mowers FRB so far so good watching closely

danios are too fast moving. Newts tend to be sluggish, easy pickings for a turtle.

i am keeping a close eye newts under one of turtles right now
i breed gallexy rasboras, longfin danios, apple snails 2 years not a loss to a turtle that i know of anyway

Very, very similar species, however...I've gotta ask Estuary where he got it? Big Als maybe? Triturus are pretty rare in Canada...
