Hello,

I've had my 75 gallon running for about 2 months.

I have a sump setup with 2 gallons of bioballs, a "mini" refugium, that I will continue to work on, running on a little giant 770, and a fx5 that I set up last week.

My current stock is...

1-6" oscar
1-2" convict
1-3" common pleco
1-3" pictus cat
1-3" gold algae eater
2-2" siamese algae eater
3-3" common goldfish
3-4" red bellied pacu
5-2" emerald cory
5-3" tin foil barb

That's 23. I want something interesting, something that will not get too big, something that I can plan on having even if it stays in the 75 gallon.

I know that I will have to upgrade within the next 3 months...way ahead of ya. I already have a 125 gallon in the works. I'm building the stand currently, cleaning the tank, and planning on 2 fx5's and a 29 gallon sump.

I'll have the 125 gallon at my office behind my desk and the 75 gallon I will move into my bedroom once I can get a silent submersible pump. The 125 came with 2 mag drive 1800's and I may use both in the 125, but then again once I replace the impeller they will run silent...a candidate for the 75.

Thanks for the (serious, lol.) advice,
-Brad

your way way overstocked. sorry to say, u should consider selling or giving some of your fish as they grow massive.

easy dude you freakin live in florida!!! use your resources if you want something interesting. go outside and fish for a snakehead. keep those fish that you have in the tank, inside the tank, they will become foood and you shall witness first hand the raw carnage that mkes them illegal. or just get an asian arowana. i know you guys get them there. there are dealers

I beg to differ.

There is zero aggression amongst any fish in that tank. And like I was saying, I will be having 2 tanks at my disposal.

The 75 will keep the corys along with a few other species, possibly some angels and an array of tetras as a community tank.

The 125 will be the "predator tank", "monster tank", w/e.

The pacu's, as well as, the tin foil barbs will be going to another home once they get big enough.

Some species are prohibited. I think the black's are conditional. Easy to get a permit for that.

:banhim: this is the worst advice ever... Not only is it Illegal on so many fronts.. but "the raw carnage" you speak of is complete BS.

OP your 75 and 125 will be overstocked with your current stock list. I'de worry about finishing your 125 and getting the fish seperated, before even entertaining ideas of adding more. It will take weeks just to cycle your 125. So your talking at least another month or 2 either way. Or don't take the good advise your getting and agrue with everyone.

How many water changes are you doing every day to keep your nitrates below 40ppm? Oscars even need less than that, at around 20ppm. So just imagine, if ONE Oscar in a 75 gallon tank being fed every other day can easily push the nitrates above 50ppm in a week, what is the animal mass in your current tank capable of at adult size? The goldfish alone will outcompete the filtration in another six months. How is a 125 gallon tank supposed to make a dent in numbers like that? You've brought sticks to a swordfight and now you're in a losing battle for your fish's lives. Best move is to ditch the pacu, goldfish and pleco as they are your worst enemies. The Oscar will happily eat much of what's left for you after that, thank goodness.
