You don't even know how many employees your current job has, is it safe to say you don't know how many have been arrested? Does you job keep tab and post every arrest, even when it happens on the employee's time?
I figured that that was what you were getting at and as a union rep I can get both exact numbers....as for what happens on an employees own time they are required to notify the employer if such a situation occurs......whether they do or don't is up to them.

This just keeps escalating because of "both sides" as our president likes to say.
Hello; I agree with this. My position has hardened quite a bit of late. Solutions that would have been satisfactory weeks ago are no longer good enough to me now. I am all dug in.

Hello; Just read an article. It was basically about the "inmates" comment by a Texans boss. That is not what caught my eye.

One statement did. That being there are no guaranteed contracts in the NFL. Not sure what that means legally but sounds like the owners hold a high card.
I get that owners will not want to dump a productive player quickly, but if low TV ratings and empty seats keep growing--then?
It does lead me to think the owners are sitting on their hands and not using the tools available.

One statement did. That being there are no guaranteed contracts in the NFL. Not sure what that means legally but sounds like the owners hold a high card.

It means e.g., that when you see that Player A signed a 6 year deal for $80 million, that the contract is almost never (as in never) guaranteed for 6 years. The first year might be guaranteed and there might be a signing bonus that is guaranteed (over the life of the contract), but years 2-6 might not be guaranteed at all. The team could let the player go after year 1 and except for the signing bonus, might owe nothing for years 2-6.

While it does mean that players who lose skills rapidly may be released while under a contract, it also means that free agents will be able to sign big contracts as money is freed up by teams much faster.

It also means that football players have a financial interest in keeping their skill levels at the highest level.

MLB avoids this by forcing the newest union members (years 1-6) to sign artificially low contracts so that the senior union members can get large, guaranteed contracts. In MLB's case, while it's true that players like Matt Cain or Cabrera are being way over paid for their current production (good for those players), it's also true that dozens of other good players have their salaries depressed by teams that are out of cash.

Both of those are union decisions.

....and in somewhat related news

The owner of the Houston Texans seems to be catching a bit of Hell for his recent remarks.

Hello; Seems TV viewing is down even more. Link above.

I am beginning to get more use to less NFL. I did watch the Cowboys game this past weekend. Cowboys won, hope that is good karma. No Bears game televised in my area lately so had no choice about that.
It is getting a bit easier to not watch the games. I have also not been recording games as well.
I tried watching some college football last weekend. With all the games and all the replays that could be a way to see some football. The college play is so uneven and way too many teams to follow. Tennessee (UT) and Kentucky (UK) are both doing so poorly. Any suggestion about which college games might be a good choice this coming weekend?

I have been watching the world series but that is over. I decided to root for the Houston team so that was a positive.

I asked two more people about watching the NFL this week. They both have quit watching so that makes 11 no watchers and 2 still watching so far.

I managed to quit smoking so I can manage to quit the NFL. Wish I had been a Papa Johns customer before so I could stop eating there. As I did not eat there I cannot give it up, oh well.
