Ps, it's ok to be anti g@y (he derives it his religion). Hes been outspoken about it in the past including supporting *** marriage bans). Let's just not pretend its anything other then what it is. Coach dungy is uncomfortable with g@y men. Not that he wouldn't want to deal with media or drama or hype or scrutiny. Truth

Yet tony dungy became a spokesperson and mentor for micheal vick upon his return from prison. Its clearly more then he doesnt want to deal with the drama. Hes anti homosexuality. Might as well call it what it is instead of sugarcoating it

The mike vick hoopla at the time was far bigger then micheal sam locker room situation.

Couldn't agree with you more. Sound logic and reasoning

hard to fault a man for his theological be-leaves, we all know fighting dogs a bad thing.

He might have been a mentor for micheal vick but was he his coach? He said he didn't want to be Sam's coach. He later went on to explain that Sam should have a shot a playing football (true...this just could be cya) .

Also I actually dislike the homosexual thing more these days then in the past just because of all the media over it. So, it's possible for me to want to avoid that situation because of the added irritation.

Going back to the Michael Vick thing. To me they seem like 2 different things. Vick did some wrong, he went to jail and got himself reformed and wanted to return to what he was doing. Sam does something some people consider to be perverted. Sam is not reformed and he's not trying to play without extra attention. Vick doesn't run around saying he's a dog killer and proud.

Sam's sex life has nothing to do with playing football. Nothing at all. I bet its not even a story once he starts playing. You let the *** community be excited about his achievement and move on. It is a milestone like breaking the color barrier.

tony dungy threw the weight and reputation and his good name behind Vick to convince teams to give him another chance. He vouched for him. thats almost STRONGER then saying he wouldn't draft someone. He basically said im not coaching right now but I would gamble on this guy. Now hes still not coaching and hes saying he wouldn't draft somebody? i dont get how its not the same thing. I'll take a perversion over a proven psychopath any day. Dog fighting is one thing. The drowning, shooting, electrocuting and beating of dogs and kidnapping of neighborhood pets is taking it next level. you really need to dig into the trail and what he admitted to. Hes a criminal, Sam just likes boys instead of girls

My last point, i watch and read more sports then any one man should. I haven't heard crap about Michael Sam beyond the first week of being drafted, the rams declining being on hard knock and now this tony dungy story. i dont know where hes getting media coverage from but it's rarely crossing my path.

You are forgetting the Opera network show that Sam had lined up as well ... it was bringing more extra attention than normal. Thankfully that was squashed as well. Talk about added headaches.

There is nothing wrong with people saying how they feel imo tony did nothing wrong he stood true to his beliefs ...freedom of speech goes both ways

People offered to pay a 7th round pick money and make him a celebrity, id take it

I personally dont think tony did anything wrong, i just find it interesting to hide behind spiritual belief when talking about football. Do you realize the type of characters are the an NFL locker room? All kinds of things that are against his spirituality im sure

I'm not saying I wouldn't take it, just that as a coach I wouldn't want the extra crap distracting the team.

I won't get into the beliefs part here, since I'll start to rant and it'll close the thread. But you are right, hiding behind a misguided belief when far worse is happening in those locker rooms is rather hypocritical.
