I was wondering if NGT Dats are more aggrressive than Thin Bars or Indo Dats. I want to collect all the Datnoid species but I always read on the sellers forum about NGT being sold because of aggression. Would buying a NGT Dat that is smaller than my other Datnoids be the way to go or should I avoid them in a group setting? Any info would help.

from what other dat enthusiasts have told me is that the NGT is one of by far the most aggressive dat. hence you must go with a NGT that will be smaller than your other dats as uve asked.

NGT are usually not as aggressive towards other species of Dats as they are with other NGT. I would stick to just one, and getting it smaller then your other Dats will definitely help prevent any aggression.

Many people keep them with other species of Dats without issue.

Hopefully I will be getting an NGT soon to go in with my AT, IT and NTT so I can let you know :) I'm sure that doesn't help you though, LOL.

i got my ngts with smaller indo dats with no issues.

My little 5inch NGT punks the bigger ST's twice his size. I also have a 7inch in another tank who leaves the other 2 thinbars alone. And another 5 incher in with 9 other mixed dats (AT, ST'S, IT'S, NTT'S) with no problems at all. So generally they are agressive, but you never know until you try. I have tried the 3 of them together, but that did not work. GL ;)

My NGT only beats on my Indo that is similar in size. The smaller Dats that I have, he usually ignores. Oh, and my NGT gets punked by my Panaque. :)

Ive got all five species living in harmony with the NGT being right in the middle size wise. In the past though, ive had smaller NGT harassing larger dats. It all boils down to the fish itself and wether or not you have an dominant alpha tiger.
