NGT only eats frozen blood worms

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the info Ben. The previous owner had it on freeze-dried shrimp too, but I stopped feeding freeze-dried since I gave away my RTGG.

My NGT took 7 months before he ate chopped prawn.

At first, I got him quite fat by feeding bloodworm and live rivershrimp, for say 1 month.
Then I ONLY fed bloodworm every 10 to 15 days. Eventually, reducing it to every 3 weeks.
But every day, i still fed my staple (prawns, lance fish, pellets, foodsticks etc) to all the other tigers.

Then one day the ngt ate prawn. and i realised it had taken 7 months!

mine eats only bloodworms and sinking krill pellets. all my fish wont touch the frozen krill i put in. going to try shrimp here in a few days.

Cool, thanks for the info guys.

I used to feed krill but it's horrendously expensive compared to shrimp, so I stopped that nonsense.

I will just cut back on the days in between feeding bloodworms, and see if he eventually get's the point.

Good thing is that the NTT stopped picking on him. The NGT is always stable, so it's a shame he's not eating enough, he has a lot of potential.

If he gets out of hand when he's older, I will trade or sell him.

I'm going through the same thing for like 3 months now driving me crazy....i feed frozen krill, market shrimp, pellets, hikari foor sticks, shrimp pellets, myisiss shrimp, frozen silver sides, and all it eats is frozen red worms....lol my 2 8" NTTs,2 4" ATs, and my 5 8-9" indos have always been easy to turn and now eat all of it?

I have a three inch ngt who is the last of my dats to accept the freeze dried krill that I feed the others with.I have had him since the summer and he will watch the others go after the krill but he wont go near it.

this is what I've done and succeeded every time.. starve the dat for 3 days, cut up very small pieces of shrimp and mix in the bloodworms.. the shrimp will take taste from the bloodworms.. try mixing 3 parts bloodworm and 1 part shrimp/pellets/whatever you want him to eat. I guarantee you it will feed on what you want it to feed on within 2 weeks.. :) for every succeded feeding you increase the amount of shrimp etc..

I guess I got lucky. I got a couple 4'' ngt's from Alex at fish room plus that were eating squid and chopped up crawlers. But they started eating floating sticks right away. They just wait for them to hit the bottom..or atleast til they start sinking cause the aro runs the top water column.
