Next month it's going to be a year since I bought my NGT datnoid.

And he has grown about... a quater inch.
I don't know what to do. He'll eat a piece of shrimp about once a month and that's it. Right now I have him in my 120 gallon with 12 IT datnoids, a Flagtail Prochilodus, a L14 Goldie pleco, and a Juruenese catfish.
He's the only one I really care about and I'm thinking of letting go of all the IT datnoids except for one that is 1.5" so I can concentrate on him to get his growing and eating habits better.
Should I start feeding him live foods?
I had an NGT for about 6months that only ate a piece of small shrimp daily or every couple days. He was with at's, ntt's, and indos that ate carnivore, massivore, sinking cichlid gold, but he never even took a bite out of any. pretty picky eater I would say..

I agree.
It just worries me a little. I want him to flourish, not to just get by.

Vaine, I have a very similer tank set up. 5x2x2. 6 it , 2ntt 2ngt. The ngt were both 1.5-2 inch 6 months ago. Both on pellets, the pig is 7 inch. The other is still 4 inch.
I wouldn't change anything, if its lived for a year with it's tank mates it should be fine. Sounds like this one is Just particularly slow growing, together with minimal eating over a year.

Vaine, I have a very similer tank set up. 5x2x2. ITx3 at 12 inch, 3 at 7-8 inch, ngt 7 and 4 inch, ntt x 2 at 8 inch. The ngt were both 1.5-2 inch 6 months ago. Both on pellets, the pig is 7 inch. The other is
still 4 inch.

An ngt i used to have, only ate bloodworm once a month for 8 months. Fish was then converted onto prawn instantly

turn up the temp to 86-88 for a few months the higher temp makes them eat more

I had it up @ 85 for the first 8 months I had him.
On a good note though I noticed last night he comes out more when it's pitch black in the tank so I threw in some shrimp and he grabbed ahold of it...

Then he spit it out and grabbed it again and repeated doing that for about 5 minutes...

He didn't eat it:irked:

Ade...
I think I'm just going to let him be. I think he might change his attitude when I sell my larger IT's.
He has always been with larger tankmates, with the IT's gone the only one larger then him will be my prochilodus.

My biggest NTT is doing the same thing, but im not going to give in,i will just keep feeding pellets and im sure he will come round.
Good luck with yours buddy.
