Yesterday i purchase one nic from my lfs. it was just fine and today it is dead. I read that they do better more of one. This is my second nic that i got. i want to why they keep dying for no reason and do they do better with more nics

instead of assuming they are "dying for no reason", you should be looking for the reason they are dying

what is the water in your tank like?

is the tank cycled?

what size tank and are there other fish in the tank?

there is a reason they are dying, and you need to figure it out before you buy any more

this is the most likely way to find the reason, the water at your lfs is probably much different from yours, fish don't just die for no reason at all

I hope that Nics aren't prone to untimely deaths. I have plans to add one more cichlid to my stock and a Nic is one of my final two choices. But I never heard of them just dying for no reason. There must be something that you're not seeing. What do they look like when you find their bodies? Is there any damage to their scales or fins? You may have a bad choice of tankmates or bad water quality.

I have a single nic he's the biggest fish I have acctually(5.5 in) and he is in with aggressive ca/said tank mates. He fends for himself and is no pushover. My water is hard, 7.0 Ph and everything else is 0 20ppm nitrate.

Very good questions, I only have one question to add. How was the fish acclimated to it's new home? I had a nic that I picked up from my lfs and he was a very hardy fish. I had him for several years and I'm not sure how old he was when I got him.

what's the point? it's been what, 3 days, and the OP hasn't even chimed in on his own post?

guess it wasn't that important to him . . .

ammonia 0
nitrate 0
Ph 7.9
soft
The tank is cycled running a xp3 and hob filter
tank mates 2 jupari ,flagtail, baby cons 4(selling), pike cichlid all fish size from 1-3inch
When i found it had no bite marks and the body was in perfect condition

Did you acclimate the fish slowly to your water? The parameters may have been very different from the store's. Your pH is quite high, which isn't a bad thing but if the fish was living in a lower pH then that may have been the issue.
