Nicaraguan cichlid

I believe nics would work with rainbows, they are not piscavores and tend to remain close to the substrate, unlike rainbows which prefer mid to higher areas of the water column.
They do take a while to color up, but as you can see with Black Tunas, they become quite beautiful.
I picked up a 1.5" group of 8 nics back in May this year, they looked like this back then.

they are now between 3"-5" and look like this, I have the group in a 75 gal tank, so far aggression is minimal

Beautiful male you have there. Any breeding yet?

Nics have the color of centerpiece fish but don't really strike me as a centerpiece fish they seem to look better in groups. If I had a 150 I would do a group of nics and then a Centerpiece fish.

Since you already have the rainbows what about a Vieja Sysnpilium.

The "male" (gold with black stripe) is a female.
The "real" male (blue, orange, etc) is STUNNING - you don't see many that nice.

How about a Vieja argentea?

FYI, your green severum will most likely eat/tear up your plants

Aren't they extremely aggressive? And as far as the severum, I went with hardier plants for that reason. Just some Anubias and two swords, so far he seems fine. He hangs around them and does this weird thing where he shoots at them really fast and then swims straight up just before impact, but he hasn't tried tasting them yet. Of course, he's still a baby so who knows.
