Hey.
I got in on the 75% off christmas lights a few days after christmas and bought two 60 count, 15 feet long blue LED moonlights. First, I doubled both strings up, and then put the two doubled up strings together using electrical tape. So, instead of having two 15 foot strings, I have one 7.5 foot string. Next, I had a cheapo 48" fluorescent light casing that I wasn't using, so I snipped the cord and drilled some holes in it. I used five 4" mending brackets and some 3" long bolts with flat washers to attach the lights to the light strip casing. I really like the setup and saved enough money versus lfs bought LEDs to make this project worth while.
60 count LED string- $1.75 * 2 = $3.50
Mending Brackets- = $3.00
Bolts and washers- = $2.00
$8.50
The electrical tape and fluorescent casing I both already had...
Pics are self explanatory. Tank is 210g native tank with 3 LMB, 2 channel cats, 1 carp, 1 common pleco, and a clam.
