Couldnt really find any good drift wood, but I did find this pretty nice root out on the island I kayaked too. Going to cut the top shorter so it fits and some more on the sides to allow the possiblity of positioning it on to one side maybe.
P.S. I was at the beach

Is it safe to add random roots to your tank? Or should you be weary of certain species?

For safety of water condition and your fish, I always suggest letting drift wood soak in boiling water for a hour to clean and kill any bacteria it may have. (At the minimal) I also let it presoak in a separate bucket for about a week in case of any extra tannin and because smaller not water logged pieces tend to float.

I'm Not really worried. It was sitting in the ocean water for ages on a shallow island.
Almost wish I had a salt water tank its got barnacles on it and I cought so many little salt fish there.

Sorry ment to quote the guy asking about adding drift wood

love the root pieces, I troll the rivers here in summer when low for root drift.
wood I nabed this summer from the skykomish river.

they go strait into the tank after power washing. cold river water, nothing to infect a tropic tank on it.

sorry should have also said excellent looking root drift! I am still looking for one like that.
